Introduction to Alpine Climbing
If you are interested in becoming an Alpinist then it's a good idea to
spend a few days receiving training in the techniques needed to travel
safely in glaciated mountains and move efficiently over mixed terrain.
During 4-5 days we can give you a good grounding in Alpine
mountaineering skills, from basic use of axe and crampons and roping up
for glacier travel, to crevasse rescue and techniques for moving
quickly over steep terrain, and the more advanced skills of adapting rope techniques to maximise safety in quickly altering situations.
There is a lot to learn, and you can't pack it all into a single week
but hopefully 5 days will set you off with a good basic skill level.
Cost 900 GBP incl. hotel accommodation, cable cars, equipment required. Ask re dates for 2008.
