Norway

Ski and Splitboard touring trips in Lofoten, Senja Island and Lyngen Alps for 2019.

Northern Norway is an incredible place to tour, either on skis or on a splitboard. There are so many mountains that are perfect ski peaks, all set among the backdrop of glaciers and sea.

In 2019 we are running 3 Northern Norway trips:

Lofoten Islands  – 9-16 March 2019

 Senja – 16-23 March 2019

Lyngen Alps -30 March -6 April 2019

Since 2012 we’ve been running trips to the Lyngen Alps, near Tromso, above the Arctic circle, at 69 degrees north. It’s a spectacular area, with peaks rising to 1800m from the beach.  More recently we’ve extended our destinations to include the island of Senja, a compact rocky island gem south of Tromso, and also to the Lofoten islands, a craggy archipelago of mountainous islands leading out into the Arctic ocean. Both of these destinations offer great touring amongst spectacular scenery, with summits rising to around 1000m.  On all the Norway trips the touring consists of day tours to Arctic summits or passes, we occasionally use boats for access but most often we can travel to each tour by road.  We stay in small houses and cabins and enjoy Norwegian hospitality and food. Follow the links for more information about any of these destinations.

In Norway life is simple; we go up some mountains, and we ride down them. There are no ski lifts to speak of, and therefore we access the great skiing and riding by skinning alone.  Ascents are relaxed, enjoying the long days and consistent temperatures, and descents are savoured.  It’s often possible to ride all the way down to the water’s edge.  On trips in March an added bonus may be the chance to see the Northern Lights.
