Backcountry Split Boarding Tours
To tour in the backcountry has always been tough for boarders - snowshoes don't always make the grade on the cllimbs and they have to be carried for riding. Bootpacking is only an option for short steep ascents so can't work for longer trips in more remote places.
In the past the use of split boards has been limited, with gear either ofter discontinued or hard to get hold of. Things are changing though. Jones snowboards are making a full range of split boards and now for the first time it's possible to hire split boards also. This means that snowboarders can ascend using board and skins, use the uphill tracks made by skiers and not carry any extra equipment other than the skins.
With this in mind it's the right time to offer proper, snowboard friendly tours. The aim is to attract groups of snowboarders only - skiers and boarders don't often mix well on a tour as using different gear means taking different lines and even different routes completely. We can pick routes to reduce the long flats and traverses common to many ski tours and make a trip that will be great for boarders.
